Director

    The present Director, Orgyen Kyab, was born in the eastern region of tibet, known as Golok, to a humble nomad family. When only three years old, his father died so he assumed much responsibility in his family, helping his mother tend their animals. then at five, he was recognized by a Lama who stated that Orgyen was an incarnaton from India.

    When he was small, he wanted to receive an education but there was no opportunity. It wasn`t till 11-12years of age, Orgyen was finally able to begin his formal studies in tibetan Buddhism and the Tibetan language under the guidance of his root guru Khenpo Pema Lodro Rinpoche of Tra Ling Monastery.

    Over time, Orgyen trained diligently under the guidance of other great teachers as well incuding Kyabie Jigme phuntsok, Mo Zha Rinpoche, and Achung Thakden Rinpoche in all the academic sciences, together with five major texts on Buddhist thought and practice: the Vinaya Sutra, Abhidharma, prajnaparamita, and the pramanavartikka (texts on ethics, Phenomenology, profound view, transcendental wisdom, and logic respectively). Upon completion of his studies, his achievement was acknowledged by Khenpo Munsel Rinpoche. In addition, Oryen Kyab was honored with the title of Khenpo, received his diploma (1995) from Tra Ling Monastery, and given authorization to grant the nectar of instructions, oral transmissions and empowerments as he saw fit.

    He has received his PHD in religious studies from Tra Ling Monestary

    Later when on pilgrimage to all the major spiritual sites of Nepal and India, In addition, he went on to study with other great teachers from the four lineages of Tibetan Buddhism and received further teachings, oral transmissions, empowerments, and aommentaries. His specialization has since become Teachings on Dzogchen.
